Thermoplastic cast resins

Thermoplastic potting compounds are 1-component systems and are solid at room temperature. Thermoplastics must be melted for application and harden again after cooling.

If an usage temperature below the softening point is guaranteed, thermoplastic potting compounds are characterized by simple processing and removability. However, very complex structures should be avoided to be cast, as degassing may be impaired in this case.

Classic forms of thermoplastic potting compounds are bitumen-based and have been used for decades for potting cable sleeves, accumulators and road construction products. Thermoplastics are characterized by high hydrophobicity and self-healing properties, which is why they are used in many areas of application. Special moulds such as waxes also belong to this product group.

New forms of thermoplastic moulding compounds are based on modern polymers such as polyamides, saturated polyesters, polyolefins and similar materials. Dual cure materials are a specialty. These are processed thermoplastically. After the mass has solidified, a slow reaction with air humidity or an added hardener leads to complete curing. In this case, the resulting cross-linked materials cannot be melted again.

We offer you the classic bitumen-based thermoplastic casting compound ISO-RC® hot potting SP as well as waxes. Our 2-component cold bitumen ISO-RC® cold casting compound SZ is a thermoplastic specialty. We can produce modified waxes and other thermoplastic systems for you on individual customer request.
