ISO-SIL® 2500

Medium-viscosity silicone with good thermal conductivity

ISO-SIL® 2500 is an addition-curing 2-component silicone that cures at room temperature or can be cured with heat. The material is filled with a mineral that conducts heat well. This leads to improved heat transfer of the cross-linked material and at the same time good flowability of the uncured reaction mixture. ISO-SIL® 2500 is an electrical insulator and can be used wherever electrical insulation is required in combination with thermal conductivity. ISO-SIL® 2500 has good adhesion to metals and plastics. The hydrolysis resistance is excellent. The product also shows good mechanical damping properties and vibration resistance. The product is RoHS compliant according to EU Directives 2011/65/EU (“RoHS”) and 2015/863/EU (“RoHS III”).

Storage and transport

Store in a dry and airtight, closed container at 10 – 35°C. Can be stored for at least 12 months in original sealed containers under the above conditions. Short-term deviations during transport and storage are acceptable. For air transport, no special temperature control is required.

Cleaning

Weigh both components in the specified mixing ratio and mix for about 2 minutes while stirring slowly. Ideally, the mixing process should be carried out mechanically without introducing any additional air when mixing the components. Storage containers containing the product should not be under vacuum.

ISO-SIL® 2500 contains abrasive fillers. When using a mixing and dosing system, this point should be taken into account when designing the system.

The product is a cold-curing 2-component casting compound. Curing can be accelerated significantly by heating the cast component (e.g. at 80°C for a few minutes). Independent of the recommendations in this data sheet, you should carry out your own tests to determine the optimal process parameters and application properties in a specific case.

Caution: The cross-linking catalyst in the product can be destroyed by various compounds. These include, for example, amines, various heavy metals, sulphur compounds, isocyanates and others. Such substances must be kept away from the product components (even in small quantities). In the event of contamination, the curing of the material can be significantly slowed down or completely inhibited.

The EC safety data sheet provides information on safety-relevant product properties.

Processing
