ISO-SIL® HC101

1-component casting resin

ISO-SIL® HC101 is a one-component, hot-curing, addition-curing silicone resin. The material shows good flowability and, for a silicone, high tensile strength. It is a 100% solids material that does not contain any solvents. Due to its one-component nature, mixing processes (and potential mixing errors that come with them) are not required for this material. After application, the material is free flowing and self leveling. The temperature resistance and the low-temperature flexibility are excellent.

The curing speed of the material is highly temperature-dependent (see below). Possible applications are:

– Sealing of lids and housings.

– All kinds of bonding and glueing

– Insulation of electrical connections

– Applications in the lighting sector

Applications in the medical or pharmaceutical sector are not recommended.

Storage and transport

Store in a dry and airtight, closed container and refrigerate them at <5°C at all times to extend the shelf life of the product. Storage at room temperature for 14 days for production preparation is not critical. Please refer to the container label for exact information on shelf life. Short-term temperature deviations during transport and storage are acceptable.

Cleaning

To ensure good adhesion of the cast resin the customer should individually test the suitability of the involved surfaces. Possible pre-treatments like cleaning, activation processes (plasma process) etc. should also be taken into account. The contact surfaces should be free of dirt such as dust, grease or water. For cleaning we recommend ISO-RC® Degreaser for wipe degreasing or ISO-RC® Flux-Off + ISO-RC® Spraywash for spray degreasing (available in 400 ml spray cans).

Processing

Before opening the closed container (when using cartridges keep the overpack closed), bring the material to room temperature to prevent condensation of humidity.

If material is delivered in containers in form of loose goods homogenise thoroughly while stirring slowly (avoid air bubbles). If air is present, the material can be degassed at 100 mbar until the formation of bubbles in the resin stops.

The ideal application temperature is 20°C. A short heating to 60°C (60 min) for better application is possible. Curing should be adapted to requirements as stated above. Machine casting is also possible. After casting, store components in an oven and cure the material using the temperature regime mentioned above.

Caution: The cross-linking catalyst in the product can be destroyed by various compounds. These include, for example, amines, various heavy metals, sulfur compounds, isocyanates and others. Such substances must be kept away from the product components (even in small quantities). In case of contamination, the curing of the material may be significantly slowed down or completely inhibited. If uncured areas are found at interfaces, there is a possibility of incompatibility of the materials or that inhibiting substances are present in the substrate surface.
